Tracy Russillo's career began in 1989 when she joined the Virginia State Police. Over the years, she demonstrated unwavering commitment and exceptional skill, leading to her ascent through the ranks to become Deputy Superintendent. Throughout her tenure, Tracy's assignments took her to various regions including Fredericksburg, Culpeper, Winchester, and Richmond. Notably, she served as the Division Commander in Northern Virginia, evidencing her leadership capabilities.
Tracy's journey within the Virginia State Police saw her holding significant positions, such as Major and Lieutenant Colonel in the Bureau of Administrative and Support Services, before ultimately being promoted to Deputy Superintendent. Her extensive experience and dedication to public safety were the cornerstones of her remarkable career, which spanned several decades until her retirement in 2022.
Upon retiring, Tracy transitioned to a new role as a board member for the Virginia Public Safety Foundation. In this capacity, she carried out comprehensive research on the 964 heroes commemorated on the Commonwealth Public Safety Memorial wall. Her work aimed to honor and preserve the legacy of these individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
As the President of the Public Safety Foundation, Tracy remains steadfast in her mission to ensure that the stories of these heroes are never forgotten. She envisions the creation of a virtual memorial wall, a digital testament that would immortalize their heroic deeds for future generations. Tracy's dedication to preserving the memory of these brave individuals underscores her lifelong commitment to public service and honor.
